The Rusty Chair is a Luxembourgian acoustic blues and folk band based in Luxembourg and founded in 2017.1
Musicians from various backgrounds gathered around multi-instrumentalist Yannick Weiss (guitar, percussion, harmonica), recognizable by his gravelly voice, to give birth to the band “The Rusty Chair,” which found its niche in the realm of music ranging from acoustic blues to rhythmic and melodious folk.
Its passionate musicians ensure a warm, sometimes intimate atmosphere ranging from typical melancholic blues to uplifting and festive tunes. They favour small concert venues, clubs, and blues-rock oriented cafés and bars for their performances.
In 2019, the group released its début album “Rehearsal Sessions.” Their repertoire varies between covers of well-known standards such as the legendary “Little Red Rooster” by Willie Dixon and original compositions. Musicians like Tom Waits, Howlin’ Wolf, La Rue Kétanou, and Louis Armstrong have influenced the group. Improvisation during performances is essential for us, drawing inspiration from the venue and the audience where we perform.
